Description
Vetmuis Karoo Huis is a quaint Karoo house with antique furniture and fittings situated in Richmond, a beautiful little town on the N1, halfway between Cape Town and Johannesburg.

The house can accommodate up to eight guests in total, in four large bedrooms. Two of the rooms each contain a double bed and an en-suite bathroom, while the other two rooms each contain two single beds. These two rooms share a bathroom.

There is a large lounge with a fireplace for the cold winter nights. An equipped kitchen and braai area is available for self service, while reservations for evening meals and a full breakfast at Vetmuis Plaaskombuis can be arranged. Braai packets and safe parking is available.

Snow is not unheard of during winter, while the summers can get really hot. The major draw card is without a doubt the tranquility, the open spaces and the effortless way of life.

Vetmuis Karoo Huis in Richmond - Northern Cape Reviewed by Calvin du Plessis, South Africa on . A chance to step back in time We had a really pleasant time during our stay at Vetmuis Karoo huis. It is a very old farm house that has a very unique feel to it. We were a bit concerned that there was no TV until we found the lovely board games with a old record player which had a wonderful collection of records. A must when staying here. The hostess was also very friendly and helpful. Thanks
Vetmuis Karoo Huis in Richmond - Northern Cape Reviewed by Charmaine Palm, South Africa on . Never again My overnight stay at Vetmuis Karoo huis turned out to be the worst decision of my life. It started with a staff member damaging my car badly, the owner did not even bother to come to the guesthouse to see the damage for herself, opting to instead try and patronize me telephonically. What was suppose to be an overnight rest stop for a 15 hour drive, turned into staying awake in a creepy old house with faulty electricity, reeking of dog urine and not feeling safe having keys within reach of anyone who wanted to get in. The food was definitely not worth the price either. Surprise, surprise, the number I was given by a staff member for the man who was suppose to sort out insurance claim, had no idea why I was phoning him and promised to speak to the owner and phone me back. I am still waiting. The owner did not even offer to refund me my stay. So overall my stay at Vetmuis Karoohuis ended up costing me literally thousands.Definitely will not recommend!
