Nestled quietly on a hillside, deep within the barren Maloti Mountain range and overlooking the working Roman Catholic Mission of St James, lies the igneous rock buildings of St James Lodge.

These modernized century old buildings are conveniently situated on the Thaba Tseka road only 1hr away from the infamous Sani Pass, and just under 2hrs away from the new snow skiing resort of Afriski.

Fill your lungs with the fresh mountain air, see the stars like you've never seen them before, experience the rich Basotho culture and history of the area, and most importantly, relax and enjoy the views.

St James Lodge in Mokhotlong Reviewed by Keith Smith, South Africa on . Rustic and restful! We were a party of 6 and had a wonderful stay at St James. Phaulina who welcomed us was a star and was very proud to show us the beautiful church. The accommodation was very simple but clean and warm, there was enough hot water and even though it is very basic we thoroughly enjoyed the simplicity. We didn't mind not having electricity but we did come prepared for it with lamps and torches. Would certainly stay there again! 
St James Lodge in Mokhotlong Reviewed by Anne-marie van Niekerk, South Africa on . We had a bad experience. We stayed over at the Lodge on 18th February. On our arrival at 16h00, we were told that there is no water and that they are working on the problem. By 18h00 it was still not resolved - we could not get any other accommodation at this hour and was forced to stay over without any bathroom facilities. Needless to say that we had already paid the full amount for the accommodation. This is a backpackers set-up with limited self catering facilities and totally overpriced according to my view.
