Description
Island View Lodge is situated in a sheltered backwater overlooking Kalimbeza Island and is the perfect place to capture the spirit of the Caprivi, with it's natural unspoilt beauty, magnificent sunsets, and spectacular riverine scenery. Accommodation at the lodge is provided in comfortable, rustic thatched roofed bungalows, each with it's own self-catering kitchen and freezing facilities. All units are serviced daily and guests have a choice of bed and breakfast, full board, semi-full board or self-catering accommodation.

The campsite overlooks a wide expanse of river and consists of 24 sites which can accommodate a minimum of two and a maximum of eight people per campsite. Trees offer campers a shady canopy under which to erect their tents and barbecue facilities are provided at each site, with electric plug points available at a nominal fee. Ladies and gents hot-water ablution facilities and a communal kitchen are also in close proximity.

Visitors who do not wish to do their own cooking can enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal, served around the fire at our dining lapa. Relax with a refreshing drink at the Way-Inn Bar, where anglers meet to discuss the day's events. Darts and pool are popular activities enjoyed by guests, and the bar stocks a variety of wine, beers, spirits, and cool drinks. DStv is also available in the lounge. The swimming pool is ideally situated near large, shady indigenous trees and green lawns, and offers visitors the perfect locality to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

Island View Lodge is well-known for the trophy-size Tigerfish and various bream species which are caught by conventional fishing methods, as well as on fly. Tigerfish angling can be enjoyed throughout the year and bream angling from late May to the end of December. Island View is host to the International Zambezi Classic Open angling challenge - the single biggest angling competition in Southern Central Africa.

Our well-maintained fleet of boats can be hired on an hourly, half-day, or full day basis. All boats are hired with an experienced professional guide to assist and advise on the best angling method, bait selection, and locations to fish. The diverse ecology of North East Caprivi region, consisting of vast floodplains, riverine vegetation, grasslands, and savannah woodlands, is host to a large variety of birdlife which are endemic to these habitats. Birding enthusiasts visiting Island View Lodge can expect to see a large number of species in the immediate vicinity of the lodge. In close proximity to three other countries, day or overnight excursions can also be arranged to Chobe Game Reserve, Victoria Falls and Livingstone.

Island View Lodge in Katima Mulilo Reviewed by Alwyn Theunissen, South Africa on . Experience <p>The campsite is beautiful but stands are not well drained but opportunity to fish is good. However, the ladies ablution blocks are sub standard and the men's are not cleaned regularly.</p><p>We were charged R700.00 for two people to fish for 3 hours plus R252.00 for petrol used even though using our own fishing gear. The boat was taken out approximately 750 m from Island View where it the engine was put off. The boys were charged R60 for a whole briem, using a 30cm x 4 cm strip of it. Upon asking if they could have the rest of the briem they were told no, it will be used for other fisherman as well at the same charge. I felt ripped off to say the least. No firewood, charcoal or even ice is stocked while the venue is 35km from the nearest town Katimo Malilo. I had to drive to Katimo to buy firewood and ice.</p><p>I paid R450 for 3 hours fishing for the 2 boys on Zambezi at a 5 star lodge two days later, with friendly assistance and guidance. </p><p>Regards</p><p></p>
