Sunbird Lodge is an eco-friendly luxury lodge located in the Great Rift Valley, one of the natural wonders of the world. We are less than 127 km from Nairobi and a few minutes off the new and superb Nairobi-Nakuru highway, on a very good, private access road at the shore of Lake Elementaita and overlooking the vast, unspoilt plains.

Located on private land there are no park or conservation fees in addition to our very competitive rates. On excellent roads, it is only 20 minutes to the famous Nakuru National Park, approximately 30 minutes from Lake Naivasha, and 45 minutes from Hells Gate National Park.

Set on 22 hectares of private land between Nakuru and Gilgil, Sunbird Lodge is named after one of the more than 450 species of birds in this area. Beautifully nestled in a pristine environment above Lake Elementaita, one can experience amazing sunsets.

Sunbird Lodge offers exclusive accommodation in 14 spacious en-suite cottages, each with a private patio area. All of the cottages contain a king-size bed and an additional single bed and are exquisitely built with natural materials and thatched roofs. Enjoy an unspoilt view over Lake Elementaita and Soysambu Conservancy.

The restaurant boasts a fantastic view from the large veranda and big sliding glass doors. It seats approximately 35 people comfortably and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our experienced chefs will prepare mouthwatering meals and two fireplaces will keep you warm and spread a romantic atmosphere. Alternatively, enjoy a pleasant outdoor dining experience under the stars overlooking the swimming pool and Lake Elementaita and the Soysambu Conservancy. The bar and lounge are well-stocked with local as well as imported beverages and guests can enjoy a famous cocktail whilst relaxing with friends.
