Amicus is nestled in Nature's Valley, a charming holiday settlement that marks the end point of South Africa’s ultimate hike the Otter Trail. Situated in the western Tsitsikamma section, this region is one of the highlights of a trip through the Garden Route National Park. The combination of beach, lagoon, indigenous forest, fynbos and mountains makes for a superlative location.

Wake up in one of the two houses, or the flat, to the song of the forest birds. Amicus offers a four-bedroom house, a three-bedroom house, and a flat, all self-catering. Watch Knysna Loeries/Turaco from your patio, enjoy a summer barbecue under the stars, or sundowners as you watch the sun slip slowly away from your deckchair. Climb up to the view point overlooking the beautiful beach and look out for dolphins and whales.

Each private garden is shady with a portable braai and patio furniture. No satellite dish, television or radio, and regretfully no pets and no smoking allowed.

It is being in beautiful Natures Valley rather than the accommodation itself that made the holiday for us. The host herself was on the premises and did not ooze hospitality. The price for what you get is steep, but hey, the area is tops!
