Description
Overlooking the Maluti Mountains and situated just outside of Clarens, Groenhoek Guest Farm offers nature-loving groups and families an idyllic getaway in one of the most scenic parts of the Free State.

The farm has three lovely wooden cabins. Two of these cabins can accommodate three guests and have single and double beds. The larger cabin can sleep up to seven guests and has single and double beds, as well as a day bed.

Each comfortably furnished cabin has wooden floors and a well-equipped kitchen for all of your self-catering needs. Prepare a meal while appreciating views of the outside grass fields. The cabins also have large windows offering amazing vistas of the natural beauty of the area.

Guests can spend their days exploring this area by visiting the nearby Golden Gate Highlands National Park, or the charming town of Clarens. After a day of discovery, return to the cabin to curl up next to the fireplace, or to relax on the deck while experiencing a golden sunset.

Groenhoek Guest Farm in Clarens Reviewed by Johan Venter, South Africa on . A very pleasant long weekend Groenhoek guestfarm is situated perfectly outside Clarens, away from the hussle and bussle of all the traffic and people that came through for the weekend. The log cabins were neat and tidy and there was ample firewood for the first night, including use of the inside fireplace. A few recommendations I have include:

1. All log cabins should have a fire extinguisher,

2. Some details of contact (emergency) numbers should be available. On two occasions I wanted to contact the owner of Groenhoek, when we arrived as there was no-one to greet us and when the power went out on Saturday.

3. On the Sunday we noticed the restaurant offered a buffet lunch which we were not informed off.

4. Also only on the day of departure were we informed that we could have gone onto the other property to view some game.

I believe if there is some form of information brochure available at the cabin on arrival not only will your guests make more use of available facilities on site but would also feel more comfortable should they need to get hold off the owner in case of an emergency.

Otherwise a very pleasant stay indeed.
