Overlooking the magnificent and ancient Makgabeng Plateau, you'll find Makgabeng Farm Lodge - a tranquil and lovely place to stay and explore this beautiful area of the Limpopo savannah bushveld.

The lodge comprises about 10 chalets, each fully furnished for a comfortable stay. The chalets comprise either double or twin beds, each fitted with crisp linen and en-suite bath or shower bathrooms. Amenities include tea and coffee-making facilities and TVs with limited DStv access. An outdoor swimming pool and braai facilities are provided for guest's use.

With a variety of traditional cuisine, the on-site restaurant will ensure guests enjoy a unique and unforgettable African dining experience. The lodge offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, which can be enjoyed inside the restaurant or on the outside patio.

Positioned near the borders of Mapungubwe National Park, a World Heritage Site, and South Africa’s newest Biosphere Reserve, Vhembe, guests won't be short on nearby attractions. Other activities include visiting the Makgabeng rock art site, the Wonderkop Nature Reserve and game drives.

Makgabeng Farm Lodge in Bochum Reviewed by Charmaine Davids, South Africa on . Good The staff were excellent. I would recommend that the kitchen be replaced or revamped. We visit quite a few lodges and game farms and must say that the standards of the chalet we stayed in were not quite what we are used to. Also, the details of the directions should be revised on the website. We appreciate compliment made to our staff. The room that Ms Charmaine was booked into was a self-catering unit. However Ms Charmaine remarks relates to standards of chalet for which she was not booked into nor accessed at the time of her visit. It is also unclear as to whether Ms Charmaine refers to the self-catering kitchen that she recommends it be upgraded, or the main kitchen for the Lodge. If comment relates to the self-catering kitchen it is not clear as to exactly what it is wrong with the kitchen and what exactly has to be upgraded. If comment relates to the main Lodge kitchen, of which we doubt as it is only accessed by staff, it was under revamp at the time of her visit and now completed. We agree with the comment made on the issue of directions and very much aware of the problem at the time. We have corrected the problem.

Unhappy This is just to indicate to you that the family ended up not utilizing your accommodation initially it was said the distance between Mpakane and the lodge was 19 Km's only to discover that the distance was 70kms. We ended up not utilizing the accommodation with the deposit of R1900-00 that has been paid. It is possible that there could have been a breakdown in communication between the guest and our front desk and we apologise for this. This too seems to have relation to a problem we had with directions which is now corrected. The Lodge has resolved to refund Ms Malefu her deposit and she is kindly requested to contact fortune to finalise the matter.
