Description
At Bayview Lodge and Estate, we aim to spoil our guests with relaxation in all aspects. We do not have crowds, we do not have noise, but we do have space, long sandy beaches, wonderful underwater scenery a few metres from your doorstep, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and above all, we have time.
The lodge and estate is situated on the northern part of the Inhambane peninsula in Mozambique, at Praia da Barra, with a long sandy beach in front and an estuary behind the lodge. We are approximately 25 km from Inhambane town, 20 km from the Inhambane International Airport, and all roads leading to Bayview Lodge and Estate are easily accessible with a normal car - no 4x4 vehicle needed.
Although we do not offer scuba diving - our dive centre, restaurant and conference centre are yet to be built - diving and fishing excursions can be arranged. There are also several restaurants in the area if the idea of cooking is just too much. Our one-bedroom units are ideal for honeymoon couples, and a group of friends can share several units, enabling everybody to retreat to the peace and quiet.
Bayview Lodge offers superior self-catering accommodation, ranging from one-bedroom to four-bedroom units, each fully equipped, air-conditioned and serviced for guests' convenience. Linen is supplied and all beds have mosquito nets; guests only need to bring their own beach towels. The units are face-brick buildings with thatch roofs and all floors are tiled. All the doors, window frames and cupboards are manufactured on site from local hardwood. Seven units are completed, with a further 12 to be built in the near future.

Bayview Lodge and Estate in Praia da Barra Reviewed by Matteo Barbuto, Mozambique on . Great Time in BarraWe spent a great weekend at Bayview Lodge from all the points of view: excellent location, clean and comfortable facilities, good security, friendly and very helpful management.
We stayed in a 1 bedroom villa which was literally few steps away from the sandy beach: the villa was kept well, serviced daily by a maid, completely furnished with all the required catering tools and with the "luxury" of air conditioning in the bedroom (not common in other resorts in the area).
The compound had good security, with guards patrolling 24h in order to keep the place safe and quiet.
Our small boy (less than 3yo) enjoyed a lot running up and down the sandy beach and we'll definitely try to come back in Barra at Bayview Lodge as soon as we'll have the chance.
We have been living in Mozambique (Maputo) for 1 year and we must admit this Lodge is much above the standard and compared to the service and facilities they do offer excellent rates.
A special thanks to the management (Mr. John and his wife) for accommodating our needs, including our late check out on the day of departure.
