Description
Macaneta Island is the closest beach resort to Maputo in Southern Mozambique. This unique island is surrounded by the Nkomati River and the Indian Ocean, with abundant plant and bird life. Excellent fishing is also available in the area.

Here you will find tropical, pristine, unspoilt beaches for 50 km. The beach is a short 200 metre walk away or a five-minute stroll to the beach for swimming, tanning, beach parties and to watch the local fisherman pull in their nets. Boats, jet skis, quad bikes and rubber ducks are welcome at Barco's De Macaneta Lodge, however no vehicles are allowed onto the beach.

Accommodation at Barco’s De Macaneta Lodge is offered in fully equipped self-catering units or in our shaded campsite. Our two Chalets as well as our Reed House each sleep up to four people comfortably, while our two Log Houses can accommodate six and eight people respectively. All of our self-catering units are fitted with fans, fridges and freezers, microwave ovens, pots, pans, plates, cutlery, linen, and towels. Electricity is available 24 hours, and most units have air-conditioned bedrooms. Each chalet also has its own barbecue area surrounded by natural bush for privacy.

Camping at Macaneta is offered in campsites with open kitchen facilities and optional power outlets that can be arranged when booking. For your convenience, we also have a sparkling pool at our thatched roof lapa as well as a bar and a restaurant with a basic menu, open only during school holidays.

Fresh fish and prawns can be bought from the local fishermen daily, and cold beer, cold drinks, ice and fresh bread is available on the island. Petrol and charcoal can be bought in Marracuene. Although there is fresh water available, it is advisable to bring enough of your own drinking water. There is a brand new shopping mall in Maputo which is also well worth a day trip. Whether you would like an adventure holiday or just prefer to relax and get away from it all, it is all waiting here for you.

The place is not up to standard....dishes not washed properly at all.....lots of light bulbs not working....The bathroom door cannot even close.....The one bedroom can't lock.....The curtains which is material is put up with nails.....
