Description
If you are a discerning traveller looking for self-catering accommodation in a country setting, with fine touches in hospitality, you need to look no further – be our guest at The Green Tree Cottages. Your host and hostess, Datie and Lezl van Niekerk will do their utmost to ensure the best possible experience in service and sincere South African farm hospitality.

The Green Tree Guest Cottages is situated on a working dairy farm, centrally situated to the Addo Elephant Park with magnificent elephants to see, Schotia Safari’s where you get up close and personal with the lions and Big 5, Amakhala Game Reserve, the Frontier Country filled with history and the beautiful unspoilt beaches and moving sand dunes of the Sunshine Coast.

All four cottages are spacious, beautifully decorated, all with own entrances, private patios and barbecue facilities. The cottages are tastefully furnished with Cape cottage furniture and a hint of Africa, with rich earthy colours, to create a tasteful Southern African interior which exudes the warmth that only farm life can offer. The cottages are serviced once daily from 10 am onward. Regret no laundry service.

Self-catering guests can get wood on the farm should they wish to braai. All other produce can be bought in Port Elizabeth which will have your wider variety when it comes to fresh produce. The Spar grocery store at Colchester (26 km from The Green Tree), also on your way, is also a possible stop, but with a smaller variety of things to get. Colchester also has a cosy restaurant, which is renowned for its steaks. The Nanaga Farmstall is also close by, with a day restaurant that is good for breakfast and lunches. Homemade bakes and family size pies can also be bought there. The restaurant in the Addo Elephant park also supplies meals daily.

Nice stay After a long trip from Bloemfontein with heavy rainfalls we were very pleased to find such a beautiful, comfortable and clean cottage in that old South African "farm house style". Lezl prepared us a delicious supper and we felt immediately at home. This is a nice place for people who love animals (Lezl's son Reinhard runs a "Touch Farm"). Also interesting for visitors to Addo National Elephant Park.
