Timbila Game Reserve is located in the Grootriver Valley near Steytlerville. Each facility is booked out exclusively to ensure total privacy.
Guests can stay in a luxury or dome tent at Timbila Camp, dome tents at Mahlangeni, in one of the four campsite, in the Farmhouse or at Njalacamp that offers a main bedroom and two dome tents. Except for the camp sites, all other accommodation are furnished with double or single beds and towels and bedding are provided.
Ablution facilities are shared between the different camps and the camps are fully equipped for self-catering. One batch of wood is provided and guests have access to braai facilities, braai grids, potjies, all kitchen utensils and fridges. Catering services are available on request.
The diverse landscapes and lush vegetation of the Grootriver Valley allow Timbila Game Reserve to boast with 23 hoofed species and a host of other animals and birds. Day and night game drives are available on request and game drives in your own vehicle are also permitted during the day. Please note some areas are only accessible by four-wheel drive vehicles.
Guests are encouraged to explore on foot and guided walks are available. The fact that the river has pools that always holds water, adds to the wide variety of birds found in the region and birdwatching is very popular.
Timbila is a malaria-free area and is just a stone's throw away from the recently acclaimed Baviaanskloof World Heritage Site and only two and a half hours from the Garden Route and Port Elizabeth. The bush camps of Timbila Game Reserve will ensure that you experience the meaning of Timbila - “rhythms of the earth”. |
