Mtakatyi Trading Post in Mtakatyi Reviewed by Michael Wicks, South Africa on . A good week gone bad Wonderful setting. Very willing staff. Unfortunately our week started badly as the fridges/freezers were  still off on our arrival. Beds were unmade and the staff in a frenzy. They were apparently not expecting us. The gas freezer cannot cope. There are no gas fridges, only electric, but these are ineffectual due to limited generator hours. Our fresh food, ice, and sense of humour quickly degenerated. The accommodation was lovely, but a challenge getting to both river and sea. We left after 5 days of a 7 day booking.<div><br /></div><div><strong><em>Establishments Response:</em></strong></div><div><strong><em><br /></em></strong></div><div><em><div>Mr Wicks was informed that there was no electricity at Mtakatyi and generator usage included in his daily rate was from 6-10pm if they required more than that it would be an additional charge, the guests ran the generator morning and night and did not wish to contribute to extra fuel used.</div><div><br /></div><div>The cottages were made up for the party of five gentlemen, the staff were informed upon their arrival that each person required their own rooms. This was then catered for.</div><div><br /></div><div>When the guests left early we enquired as to why they were leaving and they stated that it was due to weather.</div><div><br /></div><div>The staff were tipped generously and told that they had a lovely stay.</div><div><br /></div><div>All complaints received by Mr Wicks are uncalled for as they were well informed about the area and it's surroundings. They were told that it was 4x4 territory only, distances to River and sea etc. Our extremely informative guest information booklet was forwarded to them before their arrival and they knew full well that it was a bush setting.</div><div style="font-weight: bold;"><br /></div></em></div><div><strong><em><br /></em></strong></div>
