The Thornhill Lodge is a private game lodge situated on 24 000 acres in the Central Karoo. Accommodation is provided to guests in a charming Cape Dutch-style lodge or at the stone Bush Camp located in a spectacular river canyon.
The guest suites at the lodge all have full en-suite bathroom facilities together with vintage wooden roofing and floors. Thornhill believes that comfort at bedtime is a prerequisite to fine living and all rooms have a complimentary decanter of port and brandy to be enjoyed.
The Bush Camp is situated about 12.8 km from the main lodge, in the heart of the canyon. Sitting alongside a perennial river, the camp is comprised of three huts which were hand-built from natural rock found in the area. The camp sleeps eight people and has its own separate kitchen, cooking and dining areas. Its outside firepit looks out on a 600 foot sandstone cliff made up of contrasting sediment deposited over millions of years. The camp is fully serviced with the exception of electricity.
Guests may also fly in to our private landing strip located a short drive from our lodge. Most guests fly from Cape Town and George. |
